Sobering
I saw someone fall while at index on Saturday.
I was on Rogers Corner with Ben, I was at the second anchor and Ben was coming up from the first. The party above was lowering off and the last member rappelled down past me.
I gave the customary greets hello as he passed by.
I put Ben on hold for a moment while I adjusted the anchor, finished and was about to have him come up when....
Loud shout of "OH GOD", followed by a -WHUMP- sound of a body hitting the ground.. Looked down to see the fellow tumbling... off another 10 foot ledge, and tumbling to a stop some distance later..
Ambulance was there within 10 minutes, and the fellow amazingly only suffered a broken wrist... Apparently he had rappeled off the end of his rope (unequalized) and I would estimate he had about a 30 foot fall.
UPDATE: broken wrist, cracked vertebrae --very lucky
