Bush Ordered Secret Surveillance Without Warrants

Wow, the NSA is spying on American citizens in America, without a warrant.

"Mr. Bush's executive order allowing some warrantless eavesdropping on those inside the United States including American citizens, permanent legal residents, tourists and other foreigners is based on classified legal opinions that assert that the president has broad powers to order such searches, derived in part from the September 2001 Congressional resolution authorizing him to wage war on Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups, according to the officials familiar with the N.S.A. operation."

Sweet, did I just get trolled by the Bush Blog squad?

Hey guys: The prez isn't all powerfull, if he wants to tap terrorists phones I'm all for it.. But as part of our system of checks and ballances, he has to get it checked out first. Luckily there is a system allready set up for just this sort of thing.. It's called FISA. In emergency situations the Prez can even get clearances 72 hours after the fact, and in 25 years only 4 requests have been denied (and I think even those were allowed after a second appeal).

What happened to the Republicans I knew who were always suspicious of unrestricted governemnt?
Ruby Ridge anyone?
