I used to have really high hopes for Google. They seemed to be carrying the torch of Xerox PARC from yesteryear. They seem to be at the forefront of machine learning, and turning all those advertising dollars in to really cool research.
So when the barge showed up, I imagined something much more profound than a show-room for google-glass.
