Analytics!

At about Wedding + 6 months Facebook started sending my wife advertisements for online dating services.. I love thinking about the machine learning that went into that decision. Kind of sad to think that most people start rethinking/cheating less than a year after getting married.
However recently it started sending her baby/birth/etc stuff. So right now we are on the bubble and are getting both, you know, for the cheating and breeding cohort.

Pro Rape

Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan says that he personally believes that rape is just another "method of conception" and not an excuse to allow abortions.

Oh man, It's not the Pro-Life party, it's the Pro-Rape party. WTF is wrong with these people? Regardless of your stance on abortion, as a politician you should know better than to associate your name with rape. If the Romney campaign isn't careful it's going to end up as the "Tax-Dodging-Rapists" party.

Retina Display

I love my Retina Display macbook.
Everything is so crisp I don't think I'll ever go back. My 27" desktop looks like a piece of junk now.

Look at all these pieces.

Spring and RabbitMQ – Behind India's 1.2 Billion Person Biometric Database. The architecture behind a few thousand core personal identity system using HDFS, HBase, Hive, Pig, Zookeeper, MySQL, SEDA, MongoDB, Solr, and GridGain. "

Which of these things is going to break first?

Sneaky

"Azul Systems, Inc. (Azul), the award-winning leader in Java runtime scalability, today announced an ongoing commitment to the Open Source community by making its Zing JVM freely available to Open Source developers and projects for use in development, qualification, and testing."

So at first I read this as "Zing JVM is open sourced". Actually, no.
Free to use by open source developers... While developing, not in production.
Everyone else is out of luck.

A nice gesture I suppose, but not really useful, and a little sneaky.
"It worked in development and test, I don't understand why it's not working now." ..etc
